by OUR REPORTER
Kano's foremost billionaire, Aliko Dangote is making good another of his pledges to Kano State.
This afternoon, the Dangote Foundation is expected to hand over a redone Dr. Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital on Airport Road, by Triumph Publishing Company to the Task Force battling the dreaded COVID - 19 Pandemic in Kano.
A representative of the Dangote Group, Hajiya Maijidda Modibbo, who hinted our correspondent of the isolation center commissioning at Dr. Abubakar Imam Urology said the event is taking place by 12 noon today (Monday 11/05/2020), on one of the two scheduled days of the week when lockdown is eased for the people of Kano.
Unveiling the reworked hospital is in fulfillment of the billions of Naira pledged by the business mogul to support the war effort to stop CORONAVIRUS in its tracks in Nigeria and specifically in his home state. Africa's richest man, Alhaji Aliko's Foundation had already presented sets of complete packages of support to Kano.
The earliest such support, at the beginning of the COVID19 crises was the provision and equipping of an isolation center for patients afflicted by the virus at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, in Kano Municipal. Other interventions include the world class mobile testing center at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH), in addition to an upgrade of the usual feeding program of the "soup kitchen" that has been a practise of the Dangote Foundation and family.
Hajiya Maijidda urged the people of Kano, her home and Dangote's home to keep themselves and their beloved families safe, by adhering strictly to the COVID - 19 protocols, and the mantra of social distancing, use of face masks and regular scrupulous personal hygine. Cleanliness is after all next to Godliness, and Kano is a state of cleanlines and Godliness. She prayed God shows us the end of the pandemic in no distant future.
According to her, anyone who had no business going out even on days that lockdown was eased should best stay home.
