The people of Ikara Local Government in Kaduna state have been reminded of their unpaid 1979 debt to the PRP at the launch of the Party’s LG election campaigns at Ikara, headquarters. Speaking at the event, Interim National Chairman of the PRP, Prof. Sule Bello, represented by North West, Zonal Coordinator of the PRP, St. Kamven, recalled that the debt was incurred during the tenure of the PRP under Late Malam Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa as Governor whose projects are the only indicator of Government presence in Ikara for the past four decades.
He called on them “to settle that debt by rallying round all the PRP candidates in the council  to ensure their victory in the forthcoming elections.
"The Ikara people and indeed the entire state have no other alternative than the PRP. The party's achievements speak volumes of its ideological orientation towards the emancipation of the people.
“Therefore, it is the party which naturally the people of Ikara and Kaduna state should belong to.
“You must work tirelessly to ensure its victory”, he said, adding “the victory of the party is the emancipation of the oppressed”.
Also speaking PRP Kaduna State Chairman AbdurRahman Danbirni reaffirmed the call by National Chairman, Prof. Sule Bello. He said for the people of Ikara it was now pay back time for what the PRP has done for them.
Ikara PRP Candidate for the Local Government Chairmanship election, Balarabe Jibo and the 10 candidates contesting the Councillorship seats of Ikara in Kaduna State received the People's Redemption Party (PRP) flags to mark the first leg of the tour of the 23 local government areas of the state by the State leadership to present flags to Party candidates and to drum up support for the party ahead of the June 5th elections.
While personally presenting the flag to the Chairmanship candidate, the State Chairman, Abdulrahman Danbirni said: “the people of Ikara local government of their debt to PRP, which during the 2nd Republic brought about unprecedented development to the area”.
He cited the establishment of the Food processing plant in Ikara, the science secondary school Ikara, the Ikara-Anchau road, the General Hospital, electrification of the town and several other projects executed in the local government by the PRP government, which have till date remained the only visible achievements of any government over the past forty years.
"Ikara is home to the People's Redemption Party and we have no doubt that history will repeat itself in this local government as it did in 1979 when the people came out and gave  support to the Party. The PRP has produced many prominent sons of the soil. Professor Bashir Ikara and several other indigenes of the local government played vital roles in the PRP and in sustaining the party over the past forty years." he said.
High point of the event was the presentation of the party's flag to the Chairmanship Candidate, Jibo Balarabe. Others  also presented with flags were Bello Zailani the vice-chairmsnship candidate and  Ward Candidates  Shamsudeen Dahiru, Yahuza Abdullahi, Sani Haruna, Haruna Adamu, Nasiru Samaila,  Ya'u  Aliyu, Mustapha Yunusa and Dauda Yakubu of Ikara, Jamfalam, Pala, Kurmin-Kogi,  Saya-Saya, Saulawa,  Paki and Rumi wards.
